Snap-8 (10mg) is a research-use peptide for laboratory studies involving cosmetic-adjacent models, signaling-focused pathways, and structured peptide workflow design.
Description
Snap-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3; Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH₂) is a synthetic octapeptide designed to modulate SNARE (soluble NSF attachment protein receptor) complex formation at neuromuscular junctions. It is an extension of the well-studied tripeptide SYN-AKE and acts by competing with SNAP-25 for SNARE complex binding, reducing the rate of synaptic vesicle fusion and acetylcholine exocytosis at the neuromuscular junction.
Why Researchers Select Snap-8
The SNARE complex — comprising syntaxin, SNAP-25, and synaptobrevin — is the molecular machinery driving neurotransmitter vesicle fusion. Snap-8 provides a peptide-based tool for studying this mechanism without using toxins (botulinum toxin fragments) or irreversible inhibitors. In cosmetic biology and skin research, it has been studied for its effect on expression wrinkle formation by reducing repetitive facial muscle contraction signaling in cell and tissue models. As a SNAP-25 mimetic, it provides a specific, reversible probe for studying acetylcholine release kinetics at neuromuscular junctions.
Common Research Applications
- SNARE complex assembly and neurotransmitter vesicle fusion studies
- SNAP-25 competitive inhibition and neuromuscular junction models
- Acetylcholine release kinetics research
- Neuromuscular signal reduction in tissue contraction models
- Cosmetic biology: expression wrinkle mechanism studies

Storage Instructions
All our research peptides are manufactured using a lyophilization (freeze-drying) process. This method is designed to maintain product integrity and allows vials to remain stable during shipping for approximately 3–4 months.
Once a vial is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, it should be stored in the refrigerator to help maintain stability. Under these conditions, reconstituted material is generally considered stable for up to 30 days.
Lyophilization is a dehydration technique in which compounds are frozen and then exposed to low pressure. This causes the water in the vial to sublimate directly from solid to gas, leaving behind a stable, crystalline white structure. This powder can be kept at room temperature until reconstitution.
Upon receipt, products should be stored away from heat and light. For short-term use, refrigeration at approximately 4°C (39°F) is suitable. For long-term storage (several months to years), vials may be placed in a freezer at approximately -80°C (-112°F). Freezing is the preferred method for preserving product stability over extended periods.
