MOTS-c (10mg) is a research-use product for laboratory studies involving mitochondrial signaling, cellular energy pathways, and metabolism-related workflow design.
Description
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial Open Reading Frame of the 12S rRNA Type-C, 10mg) is a 16-amino acid peptide encoded entirely within the mitochondrial genome — the first mitochondria-derived peptide (MDP) discovered to translocate to the nucleus and regulate nuclear gene expression. Identified by Changhan David Lee’s laboratory at USC in 2015, MOTS-c represents a new class of mitochondria-to-nucleus retrograde signaling molecules.
Why Researchers Select MOTS-c
MOTS-c activates AMPK in skeletal muscle and other metabolic tissues, resulting in increased glucose uptake, enhanced fatty acid oxidation, and improved insulin sensitivity in animal models. Under metabolic stress, it translocates to the nucleus and regulates antioxidant response element (ARE) gene expression. Published studies have shown MOTS-c levels decline with age and metabolic disease, positioning it as a key subject in mitochondrial longevity signaling research. The 10mg quantity suits cell-based mechanistic studies and dose-finding experiments.
